Gymnaestrada
As Gymnaestrada or Weltgymnaestrada one from the World Gymnastics Federation (is FIG organized) Turnfest called that - as the Olympic Games - held every four years. The focus of every Gymnaestrada is on various gymnastics demonstrations, which, however, are not measured against each other.
etymology
"Gymnaestrada" is an artificial word invented by the Dutchman Jan Sommers as a combination of "gymnastics" (world term for everything that has to do with gymnastics), "strada" (street) and "estrada" (stage).
Gymnastics festival without pressure to perform
Since 1953, thousands of enthusiastic gymnasts from many countries in Europe and other continents have met for a week for a festival of popular sports, which Juan Antonio Samaranch described as "the most important in the world". Groups of 10 people show in artistic and imaginative choreography gymnastics in many varieties: Gymnastics , show dance , acrobatics , high-speed gymnastics , aerobics , synchronized Gymnastics , drum hoop , rope skipping and much more.
The World Gymnaestrada is not a competition. The values lie in fascinating movement and international encounters. The participants still show top sporting performances, free of any pressure on scores or points. The FIG focuses on “gymnastics for everyone”, which is so important for fitness , wellness , health and social life, and invites you to get active.
At the World Gymnaestrada in Lisbon in 2003, the average age of the participants was 35 years, 80 percent were women.

Gymnaestrada 2007 Dornbirn
The 13th World Gymnaestrada took place from July 8th to 14th, 2007 in Dornbirn , Vorarlberg . 22,000 participants from 56 countries on all five continents were expected.
With one exception ( Herning ), the World Gymnaestrada was always held in a big city up to this point. Since Dornbirn, as a medium-sized town, does not have the corresponding capacities, the participants were accommodated in schools and hotels in the communities throughout the Vorarlberg Rhine Valley and the surrounding area. This concept of the “nation villages” with numerous side events should make it possible to bring the event and the participants particularly close to the population of the quadrangle of Germany , Switzerland , Liechtenstein and Austria .
