The CASHPOINT Arena , originally and in common parlance often Schnabelholz or more rarely Schnabelholz Stadium or sports facility Schnabelholz , is an Austrian football stadium in Altach in Vorarlberg . It is the home of the Bundesliga soccer team SCR Altach and has a capacity of 8500 spectators, 3370 of which are covered seats.

history

The stadium was officially opened on June 1, 1990 under the name Schnabelholz . In 1998 the main stand of the stadium was completely covered. After the promotion to the first league in 2004, the second highest division, a floodlight system was installed and a year later a VIP club was established. After the promotion to the Bundesliga, a stadium record that is still valid today was set on October 28, 2006 against SK Rapid Wien with 8900 visitors.

Since the stadium did not meet the requirements of the Bundesliga, which considered covered 3,000 seats to be mandatory, a second, larger grandstand with almost 2,280 seats had to be built by the beginning of 2008 with the west stand. To finance the project, the Schnabelholz was renamed the Cashpoint Arena in June 2007 after the main sponsor Cashpoint .

Transport links

The stadium is located directly on the Rheintal / Walgau Autobahn and is accessed from this via the Altach-Götzis exit. From the Hohenems and Götzis train stations, bus routes 22 and 22g go directly to the stadium. In addition, three shuttle buses run from Altach train station to the stadium before the game on a matchday. At the end of the game, two more special buses drive back to the train station.

modification

South stand construction site, January 2018

Since underfloor heating is mandatory in the Bundesliga from the 2015/16 season, the stadium has to be expanded. Not only will the underfloor heating be installed for this purpose, a new floodlight system will be installed and both standing stands will be renewed and roofed over. In addition, new rooms are being built and the main entrance and cabins are being renewed. If SCR Altach qualifies for the UEFA Champions League or UEFA Europa League , the stadium must be approved for international matches. As the stadium will be a construction site in the coming season, the SCRA will have to temporarily move to another stadium. According to FIFA regulations, the Altachers are not allowed to compete abroad, in Rheinparkstadion Vaduz or AFG Arena St. Gallen . Tivoli-Neu in Innsbruck would be close for the club , but this could turn into a financial loss. In the ÖFB Cup or the Bundesliga, the club would have to move to the Casino Stadium (Bregenz) , the Birkenwiese Stadium in Dornbirn or the Planet Pure Stadium in Lustenau .
