FA Women's Community Shield

The FA Women's Community Shield was the Supercup competition in English women's football. The competition was comparable to the FA Community Shield in men's football and was the first game of every new season. All proceeds were donated to charity. For the time being, the last title holder is Arsenal .

history

The competition was first held in 2000. The first time the competition was called FA Women's Shield. Arsenal London and Charlton Athletic parted 1-1. The game was neither extended nor decided by a penalty shootout. The proceeds were donated to the Breakthrough Breast Cancer Charity.

From 2001 the competition was held under its current name. The record winner is Arsenal FC with four successes. Of the eight games so far, only one has taken place without Arsenal.

mode

In the FA Women's Community Shield, the reigning champion meets the reigning cup winner. If the champion is also a cup winner, the defeated cup finalist moves up. If there is a draw after 90 minutes, a penalty shoot-out follows.
