The Northern Irish FA Charity Shield is a Northern Irish football competition in which the Northern Irish champions and the Northern Irish Cup winners of the previous season meet in a single game at the beginning of a season . If no winner could be determined after regular playing time, the title was split in the past. After a long break, the competition took place again in 2014 for the first time.

Sponsorship

The competition will only be held if a suitable sponsor can be found. In 1992–1994 this was the Scottish brewery McEwan's and in 1998–2000 the razor blade manufacturer Wilkinson Sword .
