The Irish Football Supercup (officially President's Cup ) is an Irish football competition in which, at the beginning of a season, the Irish champions and the Irish cup winners from the previous season meet in a single game.
The forerunner of the competition was the FAI Super Cup , in which four teams played in knockout mode.
FAI Super Cup (1998-2000)
The FAI Super Cup (Football Association of Ireland Super Cup) was held between 1998 and 2000. It took place before the Irish Football League started (mostly in July). In contrast to most national Supercup competitions, the Irish European Cup participants were eligible to compete in the respective season, i.e. two other teams in addition to champions and cup winners.
