Bohemians Dublin ( Irish An Cumann Peile Bóithéimeach ) is an Irish football club from Dublin . The club, founded in 1890, is one of the oldest continuously existing football clubs in the Republic of Ireland (next to Athlone Town , UCD Dublin and Shelbourne Dublin ); the football team is the only one in the Irish Premier League that belongs exclusively to the members of the club. The club has played its home games at Dalymount Park since 1901 , which was the most important stadium in the Republic of Ireland until the 1970s.

history

The club was very successful from the start; In the first 20 years of its existence it was able to reach the final of the FAI Cup six times and lost all final games except for one victory in 1908. After the Football Association of the Republic of Ireland broke off from Northern Irish in 1921, the Bohemians became a founding member of the Irish League and shaped Irish football in the 1920s and 1930s. In addition to five championships and two cup wins, there are a total of four runner-up titles in both competitions.

Until 1969, when the first two semi-professionals came to the Bohs , they were a pure amateur team. They later developed into a fully professional team. Since then you have played regularly for the national titles.
