The Faroese Football Supercup ( Faroese : Stórsteypadystur ), also known as the Lions Cup (Faroese: Lions-steypið ) after the sponsor , is the football competition in the Faroe Islands between the winner of the Faroese Football Championship and the Faroese Football Cup . The Supercup is the first competitive game of the season for both participating teams and will be played on artificial turf in March at the Tórsvøllur Stadium in Tórshavn . In 2009 and 2011 this took place at the same time or only after the qualifying round for the national cup.

history

The competition was launched in 2007 by the Lions Club charity and has been held annually since then. All income generated goes to this organization. The sum of money averages 50,000 Faroese crowns .

mode

The winner will be decided in a single game. If there is a draw after 90 minutes, a penalty shoot-out follows immediately .
