Dietrich Schulze-Marmeling
Dietrich Schulze-Marmeling (born December 8, 1956 in Kamen ) is a German non-fiction author . He was best known for his numerous football books, including the history of the football World Cup or German football clubs such as FC Bayern Munich or Borussia Dortmund . In 2011 his work Der FC Bayern und seine Juden was voted football book of the year .
Life
Schulze-Marmeling grew up in Kamen on the outskirts of Dortmund and has been a supporter of Borussia Dortmund since childhood . He lives in Altenberge near Münster . There he is active as a coordinator in the youth sector at the local sports club TuS Altenberge ; he is also a member of Borussia Dortmund. His son played as a goalkeeper for Preußen Münster .
Between 1988 and 1989 Schulze-Marmeling lived in Northern Ireland for a year . The view there of seeing football as a social matter was the impetus for him to deal more intensively with the social side of football. Schulze-Marmeling is an appointed member of the German Academy for Football Culture .
