from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The German Football Culture Prize is a prize from the German Academy for Football Culture based in Nuremberg . The prize was first awarded in 2006.

Categories

In 2006 awards were made in four categories. Since 2007 there are five categories. In detail these are:

  • The Walther Bensemann Prize , endowed with 10,000 euros. The prize, named after the German football pioneer and founder of kicker, Walther Bensemann , honors a person in contemporary history who has achieved something special for football in the interests of international understanding.
  • The football book of the year , endowed with 5,000 euros.
  • The football education prize (learning impulse) , endowed with 5,000 euros. Projects are honored here that use football as a means of educational work with children and young people.
  • The football saying of the year , undoped. The winner will be chosen by the audience on the evening of the award.
  • Since 2007, a fan award has been awarded annually, the subject of which changes and the amount of money fluctuates.

The prizes are awarded every October at a gala in the Tafelhalle cultural center in Nuremberg, with the winners receiving a MAX (named after Max Morlock ). It is a figure of a soccer player in the jersey of the German national soccer team , the number on the back of which indicates the year of the award. The figure for the winner of the Walther Bensemann Prize also wears a crown.
