German Football Culture Prize
The German Football Culture Prize is a prize from the German Academy for Football Culture based in Nuremberg . The prize was first awarded in 2006.
Categories
In 2006 awards were made in four categories. Since 2007 there are five categories. In detail these are:
- The Walther Bensemann Prize , endowed with 10,000 euros. The prize, named after the German football pioneer and founder of kicker, Walther Bensemann , honors a person in contemporary history who has achieved something special for football in the interests of international understanding.
- The football book of the year , endowed with 5,000 euros.
- The football education prize (learning impulse) , endowed with 5,000 euros. Projects are honored here that use football as a means of educational work with children and young people.
- The football saying of the year , undoped. The winner will be chosen by the audience on the evening of the award.
- Since 2007, a fan award has been awarded annually, the subject of which changes and the amount of money fluctuates.
The prizes are awarded every October at a gala in the Tafelhalle cultural center in Nuremberg, with the winners receiving a MAX (named after Max Morlock ). It is a figure of a soccer player in the jersey of the German national soccer team , the number on the back of which indicates the year of the award. The figure for the winner of the Walther Bensemann Prize also wears a crown.

- Football book of the year : "In the shadow of the game" by Ronny Blaschke
- Learning impetus : 1. FC Union Berlin learning center and the Richard von Weizsäcker school in Münster
- Football slogan of the year : “With nice regularity, football is always the same.” By Hans Meyer
- Fan award : "Schlumpflied" from the fans of the 1. FSV Mainz 05 ( catch song of the year ; endowed with 500 liters of beer for the victorious fan curve)
2008
The award ceremony took place on October 31st.

- Football book of the year : “It's a great club” by Christoph Ruf
- Learning impulse : Project "Schlappeschneider - Schlappekicker" of the Sportkreis Frankfurt e. V.

2009

Football slogan of the year : Due to a stalemate in the vote for the football slogan of the year, there were two winners in 2009:

- Fan award : "Fritz Walter Choreography" from fans of 1. FC Kaiserslautern ( Fan Choreography of the Year ; endowed with 3,000 euros, the award was rejected)
