Christoph Biermann
Christoph Biermann (born December 23, 1960 in Krefeld ) is a German sports journalist and book author. He writes primarily in the field of football , both in current sports coverage and commentary as well as on broader topics such as fan culture and football tactics .
Life
Christoph Biermann grew up with his three years younger brother in Herne. Since 1971, he and his father have attended Westfalia Herne football matches . After graduating from high school in 1979, he studied German and history at the Ruhr University in Bochum . In Bochum he attended every home game of VfL Bochum for 15 years - until he moved to Cologne in 1992 .
During his studies, he was a freelancer for the taz sports website and music editor for the Bochum magazine Marabo . After graduating in 1987, he worked as a freelancer for various print and radio media (including Stern , Die Zeit ). In 1990 he sang a single with the songs Deutscher Meister wird nie der VfL (A-side) and German champions only become the VfL (B-side). From 1996 to 1999 he was the editor-in-chief of Hattrick football magazine . From 1999 to 2006 he was a sports correspondent for the Süddeutsche Zeitung . Then he switched to the news magazine Der Spiegel / Spiegel Online . He has been a columnist for the monthly magazine 11 Freunde since 2004 and is now a member of the editor-in-chief there. On Mondays between 6:00 and 8:00 p.m. on the radio, Biermann comments on the Bundesliga matchday in the broadcast 1 Live Elfer .
Since the late 1990s he has been publishing books on the subject of football in loose succession. He is a member of the German Academy for Football Culture . Christoph Biermann lives in Berlin .
