The Austrian Football Championship 2000/01 was organized by the Austrian Football League Association. The single-track First Division served as a substructure for the maximum Bundesliga . The third level represented the regional leagues east (Vienna, Lower Austria, Burgenland), middle (Upper Austria, Styria, Carinthia) and west (Salzburg, Tyrol, Vorarlberg).

First performance level - Bundesliga

General

The championship season 2000/01 was successfully enforced by the defending champion FC Tirol Innsbruck, the title was fixed with a 2-0 home win against Sturm one round before the end of the season. In qualifying for the Champions League 2002 , however, the Tyroleans failed because of Lokomotiv Moscow and took part in the 2002 UEFA Cup together with Rapid, GAK and Cupwinner Carinthia from the First Division . Here, champions FC Tirol and runners-up Rapid both made it to the second round, but failed there at Fiorentina and Paris SG respectively.
