The Austrian Football Championship 1923/24 was first organized by the Vienna Football Association , which was founded on February 15, 1923, and contested by its members. The double-track second class served as the substructure for the first class . In addition, other federal state associations organized state championships in different modes.
The championship in 1st class was contested by 12 teams who met twice during the entire season. The Austrian football champion was the Wiener Amateur-SV, which won its first championship title. As in the previous year, three instead of two clubs had to be relegated, as the WFV reduced the league by one club, so that next year only 11 teams played for the title.

EK1 The games between Admira against Hakoah and Sportclub against Hakoah were continued after a long interruption at the insistence of the VAS on the referees instead of stopping the games immediately and verifying the offense.
The second level consisted of two squadrons of 12 teams each. In both seasons, the teams met twice in a round trip. Both the winner of the second class north, the WAC, and Rudolfshügel, the winner of the second class south, went straight to the first class. Since professionalism was introduced in the two highest Austrian leagues in the following season, numerous clubs relegated voluntarily or for financial reasons to the third division, which remained an amateur league. In the following season, two vacancies were awarded to the lower-class teams of SC Nicholson Vienna and SC White Elf Vienna .
The championship was held a spring championship and an autumn championship. The spring championship, which was played as a trophy and canceled at the end, was won by Klagenfurter SV with three wins from three games. The autumn championship won the AC from Klagenfurt.
2nd class Carinthia
The 2nd class Carinthia, which was held in spring and also played as a cup, was won by SK Rapid Klagenfurt. The autumn championship was contested with four clubs
The Styrian 1st class championship of the 1923/24 season was the first in which clubs from the provinces were allowed to participate. These were Kapfenberger SC, AAC Bruck, AAC Voitsberg and the Deutsche Sportverein Leoben. This was excluded from the championship during the season because he refused to compete against the Jewish Hakoah Graz.
The championship itself ended in chaos and was not played to the end. A number of games were subsequently penalized because players who were not registered were used. Especially the story of the Kapfenberger SC games drove the league into chaos. The KSC used unregistered players in the games against the GAK, Sturm, AAS Graz and Hakoah. With the exception of SK Sturm (who won anyway), these clubs lodged a protest, which the association accepted. Instead of verifying these games as a penalty, the Styrian Association decided that all KSC games must be added, including the game against Sturm. After Sturm only reached a draw in the supplement, which caused them to fall back to second place behind the GAK, they in turn protested against this decision. The rivals for the championship - Sturm and GAK - finally agreed to play the title in two playoffs. The first leg ended with a 3-0 victory for GAK, the second leg at Sturmplatz ended with a 2-2. So the GAK was master. The missing games were no longer played. In the following season, the Styrian Football Association switched to an annual championship.
