The FC Sturm 07 was an Austrian football club from the Viennese district of favorites . He played in the period between 1912 and 1926 for a total of 10 seasons in the second class and II division.

history

When Sturm was founded in 1907 as the Favoritner football club "STURM" , there were already three successful clubs in Favoriten, Hertha , Rudolfshügel and Vorwärts , from whose shadow the club could hardly emerge. With the victory in the second class B, the third division, the promotion to the second class was achieved for the first time in 1912. Both 1912/13 and 1913/14 the league was successfully managed, but during the First World War, the game was temporarily stopped. It was not until 1916/17 that Sturm 07 took part again in the second class, the club was relegated from bottom of the table. In 1918 he was immediately promoted again, in 1919/20 the best placement in the club's history was achieved with sixth place. In the same year the club made it to the quarter-finals of the Austrian Cup , which was almost won. Only a penalty ten minutes before the end brought the opponent Hakoah the 1: 1 and with it the extra time, in which the favorites, outnumbered and with an injured goalkeeper, had nothing to counter and lost 4: 1.

As early as 1921, he was relegated to the third class, which in turn was countered by direct reassignment in 1922. The club was now called Wiener Sport Club "STURM" from 1907 . In the 1922/23 season , Sturm 07 again reached sixth place, but was soon again involved in the relegation battle. Ultimately, the club had to move into the third division in 1925/26 , which was followed by sliding into lower leagues. Soon they only played in the fourth amateur class, the fifth Austrian league. During the Second World War, the game was stopped, there was no reactivation after the end of the war.
