The Austrian Football Championship 1919/20 was organized by the Lower Austrian Football Association and contested by its members. The single-track second class served as the substructure for the first class . It was the first peace championship in the newly founded Republic of Austria.
The 1919/20 championship developed into a duel between Rapid and the amateurs and was only to be decided on the last match day. The amateurs, who under the direction of Hugo Meisl had strengthened themselves with Jenő and Kálmán Konrád, led the table for a long time and were one point ahead of the green-whites with one lap to go. In the last game against the sports club there was a 2: 2, Rapid, however, dealt with Wacker 4: 0 and thus became Austrian football champions for the sixth time in literally the last second . The man of the game was Josef Uridil, who scored the first three of Rapid's four goals. In the relegation battle, however, newcomer Admira fell by the wayside. The Federation of Workers 'and Soldiers' Sports Associations achieved at its general assembly that the Jedleseer could stay in the first class. With the second division champions Hakoah there were 13 first-class clubs in the coming year.

After the first attempts to install regional championships held annually in Tyrol and Vorarlberg as early as 1909, the Austrian federal state associations established their own championships starting with this season. This season was the first time a championship was held in Upper Austria, which was canceled after the end of the season. The reason for this were protests by the participating teams against the supposed first champion SK Vorwärts Steyr, who used unauthorized (banned) players in several games towards the end of the season. Even if the official state championship of Upper Austria was held for the first time in the 1920/21 season, this first season, which has been declared invalid, is interesting from a sport-historical point of view.
In Lower Austria, the championship was held in a provincial group south and a provincial group north. ASK Liesing won the provincial group south, but there is no final table in the provincial group south.
(TK1) FC Innsbrucker SV II successfully protest against the qualifying result against FC Wacker Innsbruck II and can take part in the A-League of the 1920/21 season.
