The Innsbruck sports club , or SVI for short , is an Austrian football club from the provincial capital Innsbruck in Tyrol and originates from Innsbruck football and is considered the oldest football club in Western Austria.
Alongside ATV Innsbruck , FC Germania Innsbruck , FC Rapid Innsbruck , FC Veldidena Innsbruck and FC Wacker Innsbruck , SV Innsbruck is one of the clubs that founded the Gauverband Tirol, the forerunner of the Tyrolean Football Association , in 1919.
founding
On April 10, 1905, the football club Fußball Innsbruck was founded in Innsbruck. After the end of the First World War , a general assembly was held on February 28, 1919, at which the name change - after an athletics section was decided - to Sportverein Innsbruck (SVI).
In 1920 the SV Innsbruck members joined the Innsbrucker Turnverein (ITV), and from then on played under the name of the ITV's sports department .

In 1920/21 and in the one-round championship in 1922, the ITV's sports department won the championship. Due to the increasingly prominent tensions, caused by the insistence of the German Gymnastics Federation on the Aryan paragraphs , the footballers resigned from the ITV and renamed Sportverein Innsbruck , under whose name the club appeared again from December 3, 1922 . In the playing seasons from 1922/23 to 1926/27 the fighting team managed to win the title of Tyrolean champion without interruption.

(2) 1976/77: The ESK Innsbruck joins the syndicate and they played under the name SPG RAIKA Innsbruck.
(3) 1981/82: The syndicate broke up.
|
In 1972 and 1974 the sports club was again Tyrolean champions after a few changeable playing seasons and was promoted to the Regionalliga West . Due to financial and sporting burdens, it was decided at that time to enter into a syndicate with the ISK (Innsbruck Sports Club) . This soccer marriage, however, only referred to the fighting teams and they played under the name SPG Innsbruck .
In 1976 ESV Austria Innsbruck joined the syndicate, then the club name was renamed SPG Raika Innsbruck with the involvement of the main sponsor .
In this constellation, the game community won the title in the Alpine League and qualified for the 2nd division of the Bundesliga in the 1978/79 season . There they achieved 3rd place in the first year of the two-class, the next year they played a 1-1 draw against SSW Innsbruck in the local derby in front of 14,000 spectators and SPG Raika Innsbruck finally took 4th place in the table.
Investments were made in the summer of 1980 and players were signed ( Dietmar Constantini , Günther Caha, Wolfgang Schwarz, in autumn also Hans Pirkner and Peter Koncilia ), with whom the club expected an increase in performance in order to participate in the promotion campaign. After the big goal - promotion to the top division - was clearly missed, the game community was dissolved in 1982 and the individual sponsoring clubs disintegrated.
