The Austrian Football Championship 1937/38 was organized by the National League Committee and contested by its members. In addition to the single-track I. League , several state championships of the federal state associations also served as the substructure for the national league .
First level - national league
General
The last days of the Austrian championship season were overshadowed by the annexation of Austria by the German Reich on March 12, 1938. The game operations were continued for the time being. After the championship this was taken over by the NSRL and the "professionalism unworthy of the German man" Abolished April 1938.
The championship in the national league had been contested with ten teams that had met twice during the entire season. The Viennese Rapid, which won their 12th championship title, became Austrian / East Markets football champions. Participation in the Mitropapokal 1938 was prohibited by the NSRL. The last four teams had to be relegated. This was only decided by the “Spruch des Gaufachwartes” on July 9, 1938, long after the championship had ended.
