Wilhelm Holec

Wilhelm Holec (born July 7, 1914 ; missing since August 23, 1944 in Broasca , Romania ) was an Austrian football player who won two championship titles with SK Rapid Vienna and played a game in the national team in 1935 .

Club career

The striker came to SK Donaufeld at the age of 16 , where he soon played in the first team, was then briefly with Viktoria XXI , before moving to the reserve team of First Vienna FC , which was supervised by Josef Blum . The following year he made his debut in the top division, but was initially rarely used. Only after Gustav Tögel left , Holec was able to assert himself as a regular from the spring of 1935. At the beginning of this year, the newspapers reported about the player when he was washed into the sea while fishing with his teammate Ladislaus Necina on a game-free day as part of a Vienna tour of North Africa . While Necina drowned, Holec was saved. In the 1935/36 season , Holec, who was mostly used as a left link or left winger, was the club's most successful shooter with 13 goals and contributed significantly to the runner-up title of Vienna. During the winter break of the following season, Holec received an offer from SK Rapid and moved to Hütteldorf.
