The Gauliga Ostmark 1940/41 (also football sports area class Ostmark 1940/41 ) was the third season of the Gauliga Ostmark in annexed Austria. Rapid Vienna became champions of the Gauliga for the second time in a row and Austrian champions for the 14th time . With this victory Rapid qualified for the German football championship 1940/41 , in which they moved into the semi-finals after successfully surviving the group phase. After a 2-1 victory in the semifinals against Dresdner SC , Rapid reached the final, which was played against FC Schalke 04 on June 22, 1941 in front of almost 100,000 spectators in the Olympiastadion Berlin . In this, the Rapidler were 0: 3 behind until the 60th minute, but in the following eleven minutes Vienna scored four goals and became German football champions for the first time. Franz Binder scored a hat trick .

Relegated from the Gauliga were the two bottom of the table Grazer SC (Styria) and Linzer ASK (Oberdonau).
