Clubs of the Bundesliga 2015/16 |
The Bundesliga is the top division in Austrian football. This was held for the 42nd time in the 2015/16 season and determined the 104th Austrian soccer champion. As in the two previous years, the sports betting provider Tipico was the main sponsor , which is why the official league name was Tipico-Bundesliga .
Salzburg and Vienna each provided two clubs, Burgenland, Carinthia, Lower Austria, Upper Austria, Styria and Vorarlberg one each. Tyrol was the only federal state with no team in Austria's top division. In the 2014/15 season, SC Wiener Neustadt was relegated to the first division, while SV Mattersburg was new.
The TV provider sky Deutschland AG had the rights to show all Bundesliga games in full length that were broadcast on pay TV on the sky sport austria channel. The broadcaster showed all games in conference call and as individual games. In addition, the ORF had the rights to broadcast a game of its choice, the “top game of the round”, as a single game - mostly on Sundays, in the case of weekday rounds on Wednesdays. This regulation did not apply in the last two rounds, in which all games had to be played at the same time. In addition, the ORF was allowed to show a 45-minute summary of the remaining four games per round.
mode
In the 2015/16 season, as in previous years, ten clubs competed against each other in a total of 36 rounds. Each team played twice at home and twice away against every other team.
Due to the European Cup results of the Austrian teams in the 2014/2015 season, Austria fell back to 16th place in the UEFA five-year ranking at the end of the season . Thus, in the 2015/16 season, only one starting place for the Champions League and three starting places for the Europa League were played out via the Bundesliga and the ÖFB-Cup . The Bundesliga champions are eligible to qualify for the UEFA Champions League and will probably start in the second qualifying round: The cup winners, the runner-up and the third division of the Bundesliga play in the qualification for the UEFA Europa League and rise there, depending on their placement in the third, second or first round in the competition. The opening rounds can be postponed in favor of the Austrian teams due to the performance of the defending champions of the Champions or Europa League in their national championship. After the Cup victory went to FC Red Bull Salzburg , which qualifies for the Champions League, the fourth international starting place falls to the fourth place in the Bundesliga. Coincidentally, this is also the cup finalist FC Admira Wacker Mödling .
The last place in the top division, the Bundesliga, SV Grödig, should have been relegated to the first division, but withdrew from the professional field at the end of the season. Whether the club will be allowed to take part in the Regional League West competition from the 2016/17 season or even have to return to the Salzburg regional association will only be decided by the Salzburg, Tyrol and Vorarlberg regional associations.

Alexander Harkam had most of the season's appearances, with 19 appearances. Just behind were Harald Lechner and Robert Schörgenhofer , who were able to book 18 game lines. Alexander Harkam, who did not show a single yellow card in three games of the season , on the other hand had the most exclusions with three red cards . Andreas Heiß is ahead of the yellow-red cards , which he showed four times in just nine missions. On average, Oliver Drachta showed the fewest yellow cards ; on average he only got three per game. Julian Weinberger did not only impose a penalty this season , but throughout his entire Bundesliga career (17 games). Andreas Kollegger was not sent off in his twelve appearances this season and did not impose a penalty. Due to protracted injuries, René Eisner only came to four missions and Gerhard Grobelnik to a game director. Markus Hameter was absent for a few weeks due to an injury. The exchange of referees with Switzerland was continued this season; four games were led by federal referees.
A total of 688 yellow cards were shown; compared to the 2014/15 season, this was 128 fewer warnings. There was a decrease in the yellow-red cards from 31 to 18. The most significant decrease was in the exclusions. While 32 players were sent off the field with the red card in the previous year, this time there were only 16 players. There was also a decrease in penalties, which were awarded 27 times (previous year 34). Here is Alexander Harkam with six penalties, ahead of Dieter Muckenhammer (five) and Manuel Schüttengruber (four).

Clubs of the first division 2015/16 |
The first league is the second highest division in Austrian professional football and will be played for the 41st time in the 2015/16 season.
Salzburg and Lower Austria each have two teams. Vorarlberg, Tyrol, Upper Austria, Carinthia, Styria and Vienna are each represented by one team. Burgenland does not have a team in the 2015/16 First League.
As in the Bundesliga, the television rights belong to the broadcaster sky Deutschland AG, which is allowed to show every game in full. The broadcast takes place on the pay TV channel sky sport austria and as part of a conference call of four games with the game starting at 6:30 p.m. Exception: the last two rounds, in which all games must be played at the same time. Sky can also choose a game that will be broadcast as the "top game of the round" as a single game on Friday at 8:30 pm. The ORF also has the right to broadcast the top game of the round live and in full. This is done via the ORF SPORT + channel .
mode
Since the switch from the twelve to ten leagues from the 2010/11 season, ten clubs have been competing against each other in a total of 36 rounds. Each team plays twice at home and twice away against every other team.
The league champion is promoted to the Bundesliga. The last two placed must be relegated to the regional league corresponding to their region. The relegated players will be replaced by the champions of the Regionalliga Ost and the winner of the two relegation games between the champions of the Regionalliga Mitte and the champions of the Regionalliga West in the first division season 2016/17.

The regional leagues east, west and middle form the third level in Austrian football. The Regionalliga Ost is formed by the clubs of the Vienna, Lower Austria and Burgenland Football Associations. The Regionalliga Mitte is made up of clubs from the Upper Austrian, Carinthian and Styrian football associations. The Regionalliga West is made up of clubs from the Salzburg, Tyrol and Vorarlberg football associations.
The promotion mode in the regional league was changed in the 2014/15 season: There are two permanent relegated teams from the first division, which means that a regional league champion is promoted directly, the other two clubs play in relegation for the second promotion place. This season, the champions of the Regionalliga Ost will be promoted directly, while the champions of the two other regional leagues will duel for the second promotion place in a two-legged match. In the following year, the champion of the Regionalliga Mitte (2016/17) rose directly to the first division. The ÖFB decided on this regulation on May 12, 2014 by drawing lots. A license from Senate 5 of the Bundesliga is a prerequisite for any promotion. Second teams are not allowed to be promoted.
The number of relegated teams is basically three per regional league. However, this can change if, on the one hand, the master does not advance to the first division or if the relegation ranks are influenced by the class division of the relegated. In any case, the last two places have to leave the league.

Relegation
Due to the change in promotion mode, only one relegation game between two of the three regional league champions should take place from the 2014/15 season. In the 2015/16 season, the champions of the Regionalliga Ost were directly eligible for promotion to the first division . The second climber should be determined in the duel of the champions of the regional leagues middle and west. Since SV Grödig did not participate in the first division after leaving the Bundesliga and withdrew into the amateur sector, and SV Austria Salzburg was refused its license due to bankruptcy proceedings and SK Austria Klagenfurt due to lack of securities, the 2015 season increased / 16 all three regional league champions directly into the first division.
