Dieter Elsneg (born February 4, 1990 in Wagna ) is an Austrian football player on the position of a striker .

Career

society

Elsneg began his career at SV Straß in Styria . In 2004 he came to the Academy of the Grazer AK , at that time still a first division team and reigning Austrian champion. After three years in youth and with the amateur team in Graz , he made the leap into the professional redjacket squad . After the total financial crash and the imminent relegation of the Red Devils to the Regionalliga Mitte, Elsneg came to his first Bundesliga appearance in Austria after almost all other regular players had left. Elsneg came on as a substitute for Martin Amerhauser in the 34th round of the 2006/07 season in the GAK game against SK Rapid Wien in the 65th minute . Graz lost the game with 0-2. After the forced relegation in the Regionalliga, Elsneg flirted with a move to the Red Bull Salzburg Juniors , but he decided to stay with the GAK.

In the 2007/08 season in the Regionalliga Mitte , Elsneg scored eleven goals in 25 games. After what he saw as a very successful season, he transferred to Frosinone Calcio in Italy . His GAK colleague Robert Gucher was also brought in by the Italians. There both were active in the youth team and trained with the team of the Serie B club again and again. Elsneg came to eight missions in the professional team. He scored his only goal for the club on May 9, 2009 in a 2-0 win over UC AlbinoLeffe . Elsneg came on as a substitute for Zlatko Dedič in the 87th minute and scored the goal in the 95th minute to make it 2-0.

After he was out for a long time at the beginning of the 2009/10 season due to an injury, he did not appear for Frosinone until the winter break. In January 2010 he then moved to Serie A on loan to Sampdoria Genoa . The club wanted to sign the player back in June 2009 when the transfer failed because of Frosinone's veto. For the time being, the loan contract is limited to half a year, but Sampdoria has a purchase option. Even before he switched to Sampdoria, Elsneg had contact with the Austrian Bundesliga club SK Sturm Graz from November 2009 , whose club management negotiated with the player. Since the management of the Graz club had not contacted the Italian legionnaire for a few weeks by mid-December, the latter had already ruled out a move to Styria.

In the summer of 2013, after three seasons with Kapfenberger SV , he moved on loan to the newly promoted Bundesliga club SV Grödig .

In summer 2014 he joined SV Ried .

After the Innviertler no longer extended his expiring contract after relegation to the Bundesliga, he surprisingly switched to the Styrian national division ASK Voitsberg for the 2017/18 season . As a reason for the transfer, he stated that he wanted to concentrate on his professional career in addition to his sporting career. In addition, he only had contract offers from Saudi Arabia , Greece and Cyprus , which he turned down in favor of his family.

For the 2018/19 season he returned to the regional division Grazer AK. With the GAK he rose to the second division at the end of the season .

National team

Elsneg has already been used internationally for the Austrian U-16, U-17 and U-18 selections, for which he played a total of six games and scored five goals. He also came to 12 missions and one goal in the U-19 team in his home country. He is currently an Austrian U-21 team player .
