The Grazer AK II is the second team of the Austrian second division team Grazer AK . The team has been playing in the middle lower division, the sixth highest division, since the 2019/20 season.

history

The Graz amateurs started playing in the 1997/98 season in a syndicate with ESK Graz . The first season ended in sixth place in the fourth-class national league . In the 1998/99 season, the syndicate took part in the ÖFB Cup for the first time, but was eliminated in the first round against city rivals SK Sturm Graz . In the national league they finished eighth that season. In the 1999/2000 season they took part in the cup again, but failed again in the first round, this time at the Bundesliga club SV Ried . In the national league, the GAK amateurs finished fifth in that season.

In the 2000/01 season they reached the main round of the Cup again after a preliminary round win against TSV Pöllau . In the first round they defeated the second division club SV Mattersburg and thus reached the second round for the first time. In this one was subject to the second division SV Braunau . In the league they finished 13th that season. In the 2001/02 season they finished seventh. For the 2002/03 season they broke away from the ESK and from then on only appeared as GAK amateurs. In the first season without the ESK, they were promptly fourth. In the 2003/04 season they finished third , the Grazers were eight points short of champions SC Kalsdorf . In that season they failed in the first round of the Bundesliga against VfB Admira Wacker Mödling . In the 2004/05 season, the GAK amateurs were again third, in the cup they were eliminated again in the first round, this time against the regional division TSV Hartberg . In the 2005/06 season the Graz team just missed the promotion as runner-up with three points behind the USV Allerheiligen . In that season they were eliminated from the Cup in the first round against Bundesliga club Mattersburg.

In the 2006/07 season they took part in the cup for the last time, but had to admit defeat again in the first round, this time in extra time to the second division LASK . In the national league they finished ninth that season. In the 2007/08 season, the team finished twelfth, four points ahead of the relegation places. In the 2008/09 season, the GAK amateurs were eleventh, again with a five point lead over the relegation ranks they narrowly escaped relegation. In the 2009/10 season, the team only won two wins in 30 games and was knocked off last, with 20 points missing from the saving bank. As a result, the second team of the GAK had to relegate to the fifth-class league for the first time . In the Oberliga Mitte / West, Graz finished ninth in the first season, and eighth in 2011/12. In October 2012, the GAK went bankrupt and stopped playing, which also caused the GAK amateurs to disappear from the scene.

After the GAK started playing again, a second team was reported again from the 2015/16 season. The team entered the lowest division, the eight-class 1st class middle A , and promptly became champions. As a result, they played seventh class in the regional league middle in the 2016/17 season . In this they finished fourth in the table. In the 2017/18 season they were runner-up, three points behind SV SW Grambach . In the relegation one missed promotion against SVU Liebenau . In the 2018/19 season they finally became superior champions - on the table runner-up Kumberg they had a 17 point lead - and thus rose to the sixth-class lower division middle . In the debut season, they finished third at the winter break, before the season was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic .
