Career

Career as a player

The first stop of the footballer Heimo Kump was the youth department of SV Hausmannstätten , where he made his first athletic steps in 1975 as a 7-year-old.

As a 15-year-old, Kump was first used in the SV Hausmannstätten combat team in the regional league (sixth performance level) in 1983. From 1990 to 1992 he played 59 games for LUV Graz in the Styrian regional league (then third level) and 33 games in the 2nd division (second level). In the 1993/1994 season he moved to the Wiener Sport-Club , for which he played a game in the fighting team in the Austrian Bundesliga (tenth place). Since the club had to relegate to the Regionalliga Ost in 1994 due to financial problems , Kump moved to FC Gratkorn in the Regionalliga Mitte (third level), where he ended his playing career in 1999.

As a player, Kump was mainly active in the position of central midfielder.

Career as a coach

During his active career and at the time of his studies (1991-1992) Kump worked for the first time as a supervisor of a junior team, the under-10 team of the LUV Graz. From 1994 to 2004, Kump was in charge of the student league team at the HIB Graz-Liebenau .

Heimo Kump as a trainer at DSV Leoben

Kump had his first position as a coach of a combat team in 1999 at SV Feldkirchen near Graz (fifth level). Just one year later, the trained teacher switched to the soccer academy of the Grazer AK , where he trained the under-17 teams until 2005 in addition to his teaching activities. In 2005, Kump was appointed sports director of the academy. Former graduates such as Mario Sonnleitner are grateful that Kump made the young footballers aware that Kump "in addition to his in-depth specialist knowledge in the field of sport [...] repeatedly emphasized the importance of our school education ... ".

In March 2007, Kump was appointed by the Austrian Football Association to be Paul Gludovatz's assistant coach for the under-17 national team and held this position until May 2008.

In addition to the sporting management of the football academy, Kump was appointed coach of the amateur team of the GAK in July 2007, to which the majority of the football school's graduates were taken on.

After the academy status was withdrawn by the ÖFB in the summer of 2008 due to the club bankruptcy that was registered in March 2007 and the associated forced relegation to the Middle Regional League - the junior teams are now only allowed to participate in regional junior competitions instead of the ÖFB youth league - Kump signed on June 2nd, 2008 a contract as head coach with the professional team of DSV Leoben.

The Donawitzer, who barely escaped relegation in the 2007/08 season, had to give up some key players in the summer of 2008. Nevertheless, Kump set high goals for the season with a secure midfield position and the integration of many young Styrian players into the professional team. After the DSV Leoben also had to struggle with financial problems and the club president and sponsor Hans Linz considered "selling" the club, these goals were set too high. The midfield position could be held until the winter break, but the club had to open bankruptcy in February 2009 , which is why all players were given immediate clearance in January. After some team supports took advantage of this and left the club, Kump had to play the championship to the end with an amateur team and be content with the penultimate place.

At the end of May 2009, Heimo Kump accepted an offer from FC Red Bull Salzburg , where he is now under contract as the successor to Lars Søndergaard as junior manager.
