Harrer began his active career as a football player shortly after his eighth birthday in June 2000 with his home club, SV Stallhofen , in Stallhofen in western Styria in the Voitsberg district . There he was used in the youth division until 2002, before he switched to the youth department of ASK Voitsberg as a cooperation player in 2001 . Harrer, who made a good impression on the young trainers, was registered with his new club from Voitsberg immediately after the first "trial year" .

After he had already been active for some time in the youngsters of ASK Voitsberg, Harrer switched in August 2004 on loan to the youth of ASK Köflach , with whom he then stayed until June 2005. Then he returned to his home club and played for this until 2006 in the respective youth division.

In June 2006, Harrers moved to the federal capital in the youth department of FK Austria Wien . In addition to his professional position with the Austria Amateurs, he was active in the U-19 team with games in the U-19 youth league sponsored by Toto .

In the 2011/12 season Harrer was in the squad of FK Austria Wien amateurs, who have their game operations in the Regionalliga Ost. The midfielder made his professional debut on July 14, 2009, the first round of the season, in the 0-1 away defeat against SC Austria Lustenau , when he came on in the 46th minute for Miodrag Vukajlović . He was also in action in the 2009/10 ÖFB Cup .

He caused a sensation in the 2011/12 season when he scored 15 goals in 21 games in the Regionalliga Ost . On April 27, 2012 in the 6: 5 win against 1. SC Sollenau , he scored a flawless hat trick . The following week he was allowed to debut on May 2, 2012 in the fighting team of Vienna Austria. In the 0-2 defeat in the ÖFB Cup semifinals against SV Ried , he was substituted on for Roman Kienast in the 61st minute .

In January 2013 he moved on loan to SV Grödig in the second highest Austrian league. After four games as well as one goal and promotion to the top Austrian league with SV, he switched to SCR Altach on loan in the summer of 2013 .

In the winter of 2014/15 he switched to LASK Linz on loan . The Upper Austrians have a purchase option for the Austrian.

For the 2015/16 season he returned to SCR Altach.

For the 2017/18 season he moved to the second division club FC Wacker Innsbruck , with whom he received a contract valid until June 2018. With Innsbruck he rose to the end of the season in the Bundesliga . With Wacker, he had to relegate from the Bundesliga in 2019, after which he left Innsbruck.

He then moved to Romania to FC Voluntari in August 2019 , where he received a contract that ran until June 2021. After four appearances in League 1 , he left Voluntari prematurely in December 2019. In January 2020 he returned to Austria and switched to the second division team Grazer AK .
