Patrick Farkas (born September 9, 1992 in Oberwart ) is an Austrian football player on the position of midfielder .
Career
society
Farkas began his active career as a football player in August 2001 and was more of a late starter when he was over nine years old compared to his peers, most of whom had already worked for a club a few years earlier. At his first club, the ASK Oberdorf , he passed through various divisions until the summer of 2006 and was previously transferred to the cooperative club SV Oberwart in the district capital of Oberwart from summer 2004 . There he was initially active in youth football and was then registered in the Federal Youth Center (BNZ) Burgenland from August 1, 2006 , which he visited until 2008.
After he left his training facility, he returned for half a season to his former youth club in the southern Burgenland , where he was in junior dominate this field, as well as two games in the adult team with gaming operations in the sechstklassigen first class South B completed. He made his team debut on May 4, 2008 when he was substituted on for Thomas Halper at half-time in a 3-0 home win over UFC Mogersdorf when the score was 1-0. In the following round on May 11, Farkas was in a 2-2 away draw against ASV Großmürbisch for the entire duration of the game. Although Farkas only played in two games, the team finished third in the championship behind USV Rudersdorf (1st) and SV Eltendorf (2nd).
In the summer of 2008, the then 15-year-old Farkas made the jump from the lower-class ASK Oberdorf to SV Mattersburg , where he was initially mainly used in the amateur team in the third-class Regionalliga Ost. Since his team debut, he made this on March 1, 2009, when he was on the field from the start in a 2-0 defeat against Lower Austrian FC Waidhofen / Ybbs and was substituted for the Slovakian Mario Marko from the 72nd minute . During the entire season 2008/09 he came to 12 regional league appearances and one hit. He achieved this on May 29, 2009, when he scored the 3-0 goal in an 8-0 win over SC Zwettl .
In the 2009/10 season Farkas was next to the amateurs also in the squad of the professional team of SV Mattersburg. After 13 championship games and three goals in the Regionalliga Ost, Farkas made his Bundesliga and thus professional debut on February 13, 2010, when he won the 1-0 home win over the promoted team from the First League , SC Magna Wiener Neustadt over the entire season was on the pitch, had good offensive performances and had scoring opportunities a few times.
After seven years at Mattersburg, Farkas moved to FC Red Bull Salzburg for the 2017/18 season , with whom he received a contract valid until June 2020.
On October 21, 2019, Farkas suffered a stroke and was subsequently unable to play for Salzburg. He made his comeback on the field on February 9, 2020 in the cup game against SKU Amstetten , where he prepared the last goal.
National team
Patrick Farkas already had experience with Austria's U-16 team, for which he played until 2008. From 2008 he came to the Austrian U-17 team, for which he played in a total of 14 international matches. For the U-17 national team he was called up for the first time in April 2008 and quickly became a regular on the team. In September 2009 Farkas was appointed to the Austrian U-18 national team for an international match against Switzerland for the first time in his footballing career. In the game on September 16, 2009 Farkas was in action from the start and was replaced in the 59th minute by Martin Harrer in midfield; the friendly game ended in a 1-2 defeat. He was appointed by team boss Heraf to the squad for the U20 World Cup in Colombia, where he was used in all three games.
