Winner medal for players

The Cup of the Austrian Football Association was played for the 85th time in the 2019/20 season. The official name of the competition was "Uniqa ÖFB Cup" after the competition sponsor Uniqa , who has supported the competition since 2017. The slogan of the competition is “#GlaubeWilleMut” (“Goals for Europe” until 2017). The winner is eligible to participate in the 2020/21 UEFA Europa League . If the cup winner is already qualified for the UEFA Champions League, the fourth place in the 2019/20 championship will take part in the qualification for the UEFA Europa League.

In the final, FC Red Bull Salzburg defeated second division SC Austria Lustenau 5-0.

Attendees

64 teams took part in the first round. The twelve teams in the Bundesliga (FC Admira Wacker Mödling, SCR Altach, SK Sturm Graz, TSV Hartberg, LASK, SV Mattersburg, FC Red Bull Salzburg, SKN St. Pölten, WSG Tirol, FK Austria Wien, SK Rapid Vienna, Wolfsberger AC) and 14 teams in the 2nd division (SKU Amstetten, FC Dornbirn 1913, Floridsdorfer AC, Grazer AK, SV Horn, FC Wacker Innsbruck, FC Juniors OÖ, Kapfenberger SV, SK Austria Klagenfurt, SV Lafnitz, FC Blau -Weiß Linz, SC Austria Lustenau, SV Ried, SK Vorwärts Steyr). The second teams or farm teams of Bundesliga clubs (Young Violets and FC Liefering) were not eligible to play. FC Juniors OÖ, which actually also functions as the LASK farm team and therefore refrained from participating in the past, took part in the cup again from the 2019/20 season.

The remaining places were allocated to amateur clubs in the national associations according to a fixed key:

The contingent of participants of each regional association included the winners of the respective national cups 2018/19.

Bundesliga (12) 2nd division (14) State Cup Winner (8)
Regionalliga East (10) Regional League Middle (8) Elite leagues in the west (7)
National Leagues (5) Remarks
Note 1 Dornbirn won the Vorarlberger Cup, but also qualified for the ÖFB Cup anyway through promotion to the second division.

Bonuses

Since the 2013/14 season, all of the spectator income remained with the home team until the semi-finals.

In addition, from the second round up to the semifinals, competition premiums were distributed, which were divided in the ratio 35% (home club) to 65% (guest). If necessary, additional travel allowances were paid for long journeys. In addition, the ÖFB bore all organization and referee costs.
