The Sportclub Neusiedl am See 1919 is a football club from Neusiedl am See in Burgenland , Austria . The sports club currently plays in the Regionalliga Ost , the third highest division in Austria. His club colors are green and white.
history
The SC Neusiedl am See was founded in May 1919 by some sports enthusiasts in the Nyikos inn in the then still Hungarian Burgenland. The club's most successful period began in the late 1970s . The sports club was able to play its way up from the Burgenland lower house with the championship title in the regional league in 1976, the championship title in the Regionalliga Ost in 1980 and 4th place in the 2nd division in 1982 due to an increase in the number of first division teams up to the Bundesliga . This season six teams were allowed to move up from the 2nd division. However, SC Neusiedl am See struggled with the high level of the Bundesliga and was only able to reach 13th place with difficulty. This season, however , one of the club's greatest successes was celebrated with a 2-1 victory over the then best team in Austria, Rapid Vienna .
In the next season, however, they could not win a single point in the first half of the season and finally retired from the Bundesliga with 4 points without glory. From this point on the sporting and financial crash of the club began. In 1989 SC Neusiedl am See was only able to prevent relegation to the last class (2nd class North Burgenland) of Austrian football with great difficulty. Since 1992 things have been looking up again for the new settlers. In 2004 they were finally promoted to the regional league and in 2005 to the third-class regional league east. After seven years in the Regionalliga, the club was relegated to the Burgenland League in 2012 .
In 2014 Neusiedl rose again to the Regionalliga Ost with a second place, because SC-ESV Parndorf II was not allowed to rise to the Regionalliga Ost due to the relegation from the First League . The decisive factor was the 3-2 away win at direct competitor ASK Marz, which was only fixed in the third minute of stoppage time by Christoph Kienzl .
