The ASV Draßburg is an Austrian football club in the municipality Draßburg in Burgenland . He is a member of the Burgenland Football Association . Since winning the Landesliga Burgenland in the 2018/19 season, the club has played in the Regionalliga Ost , the third highest league in Austria.
history
After the founding meeting of the “ASV Edelweiß-Draßburg” took place in December 1945, the association was officially founded in 1946. The first functionaries were Josef Gornik (chairman), Matthias Ats (section head), Franz Pauleschitz (secretary) and Emmerich Patzmann (treasurer).
Before the club established itself permanently in the middle second division (5th level) from the 1986/87 season, there was a constant up and down between the 2nd and 1st class. After 24 years of membership, the ASV under chairman Paul Knopf won the championship title in the II. Middle League in the 2010/11 game year with the opening of the new sports facility and thus promotion to the Burgenland regional league. The team's coach was Christian Rotpuller. With Elmir Hrustanbegovic and Nemanja Nikolić, who each scored 20 goals, Draßburg also provided the league's most successful goalscorers.
The Draßburger were able to establish themselves in the front of the table. With fifth place in 2011/12, the club qualified for the ÖFB Cup 2012/13 and met SC Wiener Neustadt in the first round , but had no chance against the Bundesliga club at the time in the 3-0 defeat. But the club was able to secure victory in the Croatian Cup and achieve sixth place in the 2012/13 championship. In the following season, the ASV placed seventh. 6. After fourth places in the 2015/16 and 2016/17 season, Draßburg finished the 2017/18 season with third place behind SV Mattersburg II and ASV Siegendorf .
Promotion to the regional league
The 2018/19 game year was a great success for ASV Draßburg. The team from the 1200-inhabitant community, without any notable businesses, took the lead right after the first round and did not give up this position during the entire championship. After the autumn round, which started under coach Josef Kühbauer and was coached on an interim basis by former national goalkeeper Thomas Mandl from September 2018 after his resignation , ASV already had a lead of seven points over their first rival ASV Siegendorf. During the winter break, Mandl stepped back into the second row, which is why Franz Lederer , who had coached SV Mattersburg for years in the Bundesliga , was hired as a new head coach. Lederer continued the work successfully and in the end ASV Draßburg secured nine points ahead of ASV Siegendorf and twelve points behind SC Ritzing the championship title in the Landesliga Burgenland and thus promotion to the Regional League East . The ASV had also scored the most hits (69) and had to accept the fewest goals (28). The fact that 17 different players entered the goalscorers list also speaks for the balance of the team.

Sports facility
After the old sports field no longer met the sporting objectives and could be sold, the ASV Draßburg under chairman Paul Knopf with the support of the community under Mayor Christian Illedits , the Province of Burgenland, the ASKÖ and the Burgenland Football Association decided to build a new sports center on the club's own Property. The driving force was the then mayor and club president Christian Illedits. Construction began in autumn 2009 and was completed in summer 2011. During this time, training and championship games had to be carried out on the sports facility in Krensdorf .
In addition to the 105 × 68 meter main field with floodlights commissioned for championship games, the sports center includes a 92 × 60 meter training field. The cabin wing comprises four cabins in the basement and the referee's room with wet rooms and toilet. On the upper floor there is the public room with canteen, buffet area (VIP room), toilet and the room for the speaker. In front of it is the covered grandstand with 260 seats and around 500 standing places. The building is equipped with a solar system, which is also used to generate hot water.
