The club is a member of the Bund Deutscher Karneval and the Carnival Association Rhein-Erft 1957 eV Despite the large-scale dissolution of the district of Hürth-Knapsack as a place of residence, due to the strong industrial settlement, the history of the place is also made by the remaining associations, such as the GKKG .

history

The Große Knapsacker Karnevals-Gesellschaft eV was founded in January 1935 from the merger of local carnival groups. V. to hold an organized carnival with a triumvirate . In the same year a parade with a triumvirate (Carnival Prince: Fritz Schröder) was carried out. The first move with eight cars was financed by donations from Knapsack businessmen and by a masked ball, with an entrance fee per person. of 0.20 marks. At the same time, a prince's guard with Funke Mariechen (Maria Prior) and a festival committee were founded. As early as the next year, the association grew rapidly and it became the Guard, the “City Soldiers”, a children's group, the “Little Sparks”.

After a forced break due to World War II in 1939 , the club's activities were resumed in 1947.

From 1955 meetings were held again, which from 1964 onwards were carried out with great success in the newly built after-work house of what was then Knapsack Grießheim AG.

In 1967 the society joined the Carnival Association Rhein-Erft and thus the Bund Deutscher Karneval. In 1971 three ceremonial meetings were held in the Feierabendhaus .

In 1973, due to the ongoing resettlement of the residents of Knapsack, the last carnival parade was carried out, which was organized by the GKKG . At the same time the first senators were appointed.

In 1977 the sessions were increased to four per session.

From 1982, we joined the carnival parade of Alt-Huerth on.

From 1992 the guard was revived and equipped with blue-white-red uniforms.

An additional ladies' meeting was introduced in 2004 and since 2006 the company has also been involved in the move in Hürth-Berrenrath as a princess escort.

Club parts

The GKKG is divided into four parts of the association, the Senate, the Guard, the active members and the inactive members.
