The Cup of the Austrian Football Association was in the 2012/13 season played for the 78th time. The official name of the competition is for the third time in a row "ÖFB Samsung-Cup".
With FC Pasching , for the first time in the history of the ÖFB Cup, a third-level club secured the cup victory. The Paschinger defeated the current champions ( FK Austria Wien ), the runner-up ( FC Red Bull Salzburg ) and the championship third ( SK Rapid Wien ) without having had a home advantage. Daniel Sobkova scored the decisive goal for the 1-0 victory in the final against FK Austria Wien .
As the winner, FC Pasching is entitled to take part in the fourth and final qualifying round, the play-off for the 2013/14 UEFA Europa League .
A reform of the cup was decided for the 2012/13 season. With this reform it was decided to abolish the preliminary round, but a preliminary round can be held internally in the regional associations. The relegation losers no longer automatically receive home rights in the first round. Live games before the quarter-finals have been agreed with Sporteo . A working group called “Infrastructure” had to formulate the conditions that are necessary for the implementation of a game on national association courts. The teams from the regional associations that compete in a regional association team were no longer compensated as a lump sum, but based on the kilometers actually driven. The clubs were allowed to charge higher admission prices under certain conditions. Amateur teams were no longer allowed to participate in the cup. The final was given to a fixed location for the next five years. The first round started earlier than originally planned, on July 12th, with the game of the regional division FAC Team for Vienna against SCR Altach from the second highest division.
The games of the ÖFB Cup were not just a question of prestige, but also a battle for prize money. The participants in the second round received an entry fee of 4,000 euros . They received 8,000 euros in the round of 16, 25,000 euros in the quarterfinals and 40,000 euros in the semi-finals. The two finalists were rewarded with 120,000 euros. Then there was the advertising revenue and the shared viewer revenue.
1 round
In the first round, in which 64 teams participate, the ten teams in the Bundesliga and the ten teams in the First League are all qualified. The remaining 44 places will be allocated to other teams.

Endgame
The final of the ÖFB Cup 2012/13 took place on May 30, 2013 in Vienna's Ernst Happel Stadium between regional league FC Pasching and Bundesliga club FK Austria Wien . FC Pasching won the final 1-0 and was the first third division team to win the Austrian Cup.
Already the entry of the Paschinger into the cup final was one of the biggest sensations in the history of the Austrian soccer cup, no team in the third highest division had succeeded in this before. On the way to the final, the club, which is involved in the Regionalliga Mitte, not only defeated the regional league teams Austria Salzburg and Austria Klagenfurt as well as the second division team Austria Lustenau , but also away from Austria's record champions Rapid Vienna and the defending champions and cup champions Red Bull at the time Salzburg . It was Pasching's first participation in the final. FC Pasching's predecessor club ASKÖ Pasching reached the semi-finals in 2000 , also as a regional league, and in 2006 .
On the way to the final, Wiener Austria eliminated SV Oberwart , FC Dornbirn , Villacher SV , WAC and SV Ried in the semifinals .
As Austria had already won a place in the Champions League qualification, FC Pasching was entitled to participate in the 2013/14 UEFA Europa League qualification before the game, regardless of the outcome of the final . As cup winners, the Paschinger are directly qualified for the play-off round.
