James Holland (born May 15, 1989 in Sydney ) is an Australian football player .

Career

society

Holland played at the NSW Institute of Sport from 2005 to 2006 and at the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) in 2007 . In preparation for the 2006/07 season, he trained for some time with the Central Coast Mariners and came to three missions in the Pre-Season Cup 2006 .

In October 2007 he received a short-term contract with Newcastle United Jets and scored the 1-0 lead on his league debut against Wellington Phoenix after 16 minutes. After another assignment a week later, he returned to AIS before signing a permanent contract with the Jets in December. Holland immediately moved up into the squad and was in the starting line-up both on the last five match days of the regular season and in three games of the play-offs. Only in the championship final against the Central Coast Mariners, who had also tried to commit from Holland in December, he was substituted on after 70 minutes. With the 1-0 final win over the Mariners, Holland won the Australian championship in its first professional season.

In January 2009, Holland moved to the Dutch first division club AZ Alkmaar for a transfer fee of around 300,000 euros . He signed a contract until June 2013. After he remained in the first half of 2010/11 without a competitive game for Alkmaar, he spent the second half on loan at Sparta Rotterdam .

On January 16, 2012 he was committed to the advice of ex-Alkmaar and Austria keeper Joey Didulica after a week's trial training from FK Austria Wien . In May 2013, after winning the first championship title in Austria, Austria Wien drew the contract option, whereby Holland's contract with the "Veilchen" was extended to summer 2015.

After the contract expired, he was signed by the German second division club MSV Duisburg in July 2015 . After relegating to the third division with Duisburg, he left the club in the summer of 2016 and returned to Australia with his move to Adelaide United .

In January, Holland signed a contract with Chinese first division club Liaoning FC before deciding to terminate his contract in May 2017.

For the 2017/18 season he returned to Austria, where he joined the Bundesliga club LASK , where he received a contract valid until June 2019.

National team

Holland has been part of the Australian U-20 team since 2007 . At the beginning of March 2008 he was first used for the Australian Olympic team (U-23) and at the end of March Holland made his debut in the Australian national team in a friendly against Singapore .

During the 2008 Olympic Games , Holland was one of four players who stood by on call and traveled with the team but were not part of the official roster. In November 2008 he took part as a regular player for the U-20s in the U-19 Asian Championship , where the team reached the semi-finals and qualified for the 2009 Junior World Cup . He was also called up for this and was then used in the senior national team.
