Gernot Trauner (born March 25, 1992 in Linz ) is an Austrian football player on the position of midfielder .

Career

Trauner began his career at SV Kematen am Innbach in Upper Austria . In 1997 he started playing football and stayed in the club's various youth teams until 2006. Then he moved to the football academy in Linz. There he went through all teams from U-15 to U-19. The highlight of his FAL career was winning the championship with the U-17 in the 2008/09 season.

After a good first half of the season with the U-19s of the Linz Academy, he was signed by LASK in February 2010 . Trauner started out with the LASK Juniors in the Upper Austrian regional league. He had his first game in the black and white dress in the second half of the season opener against SV Gmunden on March 21, 2010. In the 6-1 success he scored one goal. His debut players included Lukas Kragl , Thomas Höltschl and Ali Hamdemir . In his first season he came on another ten missions and scored three more goals (against SV Sierning, SV Bad Schallerbach and Union Vöcklamarkt ). The Juniors rose to second place at the end of the season in the Regionalliga Mitte.

In the 2010/11 season, Trauner was brought into the Linz first team . He made his Bundesliga debut on July 31, 2010 in the Upper Austria derby against SV Ried , when he came on for René Aufhauser in the 78th minute . The game in the No Worries Arena was lost 0: 1.

In the summer of 2012 he moved to the Bundesliga club SV Ried and made his debut in a 0-1 home defeat against SK Sturm Graz on September 1, 2012. In 2013 and 2014 he was thrown back from injuries, but was gradually able to recover establish as a regular at Rieder.

Gernot Trauner scored his first Bundesliga goal on March 7, 2015 in a game against SV Grödig (2-1). In May 2015, his contract was extended by two years until summer 2017.

After Rieder's relegation to the second division, he returned to Bundesliga club LASK for the 2017/18 season, with whom he received a contract valid until June 2020. On November 22, 2018 it was announced that Trauner's publishing house had been extended until the end of the 2022/23 season.

National team

Trauner was called up for the first time in 2008 for a youth selection of Austria on demand. He then played five times for the Austrian U-18 team. He made his debut in the qualifier for the 2010 U-19 European Football Championship against Switzerland . He scored a goal against Hungary in qualifying .

He was also part of the Austrian squad for the 2010 European Under-19 Football Championship in France . Trauner played as a right-back in all three group games and scored the last goal to make it 2: 3 in the 3-2 defeat against England . Austria finished third in the group behind England and hosts France and qualified for the 2011 Junior World Cup in Colombia .

On November 14, 2011, Trauner made his debut in the U21 national team under Werner Gregoritsch . In this age group, however, he only made three appearances, the last time on March 5, 2014 in qualifying for the U21 European Championship 2015 in a 3-1 defeat against Albania.

In October 2018, he was appointed to the senior national team for the first time . In the same month he made his debut for this when he came on in a friendly against Denmark in the 78th minute for Louis Schaub .
