Günter Liebig

Günter Liebig (born November 21, 1921 in Guben ; † February 5, 1962 ) was a German functionary of the GDR block party LDPD and the FDGB . He was a member of the People's Chamber of the GDR and chairman of the LDPD district committee in Potsdam .

Life

Liebig, the son of a worker, attended elementary school and completed a commercial apprenticeship as a hardware dealer from 1936 to 1939 . In 1940 he was drafted into military service.

After the end of the war , Liebig took part in retraining as a milling cutter in mechanical engineering in 1946 . In the same year he became a member of the LDPD and the FDGB . From 1947 to 1949 he was a member of the Guben local and district executive of IG Metall in the FDGB. From 1949 to 1953 Liebig worked full-time as a district secretary and employee of the Presidium of the National Council of the National Front . 1953/1954 he was deputy chairman of the council of the Nauen district and a member of the local district council. As deputy mayor of the city of Falkensee , he was elected to the Volkskammer as a successor candidate in October 1954.

From 1955 to 1959 he worked as a department head for water management at the Potsdam District Council . In 1956 Liebig took up a distance learning course at the engineering school for water management in Magdeburg , which he completed as a hydraulic engineer. From 1959 he worked as the manager of the Nauen water management company. From 1954 he acted as chairman of the LDPD district committee in Potsdam and was a member of the LDPD central committee. From 1954 to 1958 he was also a member of the Potsdam district assembly .

On November 2, 1956, Liebig replaced the deceased MP Margarethe Dyck as a member of the LDPD parliamentary group in the People's Chamber and was a member of the Legal Committee.

Liebig died in 1962 from serious injuries sustained in a car accident.
