Hydraulic engineer
The hydraulic engineer deals with the tasks of water engineering ( renaturation ), traffic water engineering , coastal and flood protection , dam construction , agricultural hydraulic engineering or urban water management , whereby this includes water supply (e.g. with drinking water ) and wastewater disposal and treatment . Neighboring fields of activity are water management ( hydrology ) and foundation engineering .
The vocational training takes place as a degree in civil engineering at universities and technical colleges and ends with an academic graduation. The previous title was "Diplom-Ingenieur", abbreviated: "Dipl.-Ing.". Since the change in the study system, it has been replaced by the Bachelor's and Master's degrees in engineering.
The hydraulic engineer works in the public service for municipalities , states (water management administration), the federal government (water and shipping administration) or associations, but also in engineering offices , construction companies or water supply or disposal companies.
