Badge of Honor of the National Front

The badge of honor of the National Front was an award of the National Front of the German Democratic Republic (GDR), which was first donated in 1955 in a bronze level and expanded to include a silver level in 1973. The badge of honor came in different temporal variants. The rectangular shape of the pin, which shows the flag of the GDR in the form of a coat of arms on its left side, is common to all. Their fields are laid out in black, red and gold, with a branch of laurel pointing upwards on the golden field. On the right side of the escutcheon on a grained ground the inscription can be read:

FOR
PATRIOTIC
SERVICES

In 1960, the GDR's national coat of arms was added to the coat of arms. In 1973 the needle was redesigned. It no longer showed the state flag of the GDR in the form of a coat of arms on its left side, but the standard version of the flag. To the right of it in an extra field the unchanged inscription:

FOR
PATRIOTIC
SERVICES

The needle was framed on its upper and lower side by a horizontal bar on which a laurel branch on the left could be seen. Overall, in contrast to its earlier versions, the needle was higher but also narrower.
