Marco Meilinger (born August 3, 1991 in Salzburg ) is an Austrian football player .
Career
society
Marco Meilinger started playing soccer at USK Anif when he was a child . In 2002 he moved to the youth department of SV Austria Salzburg , where he played in a number of youth teams. After taking over Red Bull , he was allowed to play in the BNZ teams in Salzburg and in 2009 made the jump to the Juniors Salzburg , who at that time were still playing in the ADEG First League . He made his debut in the first round away against Wacker Innsbruck and on March 19, 2010 he scored three goals in the game against SC Austria Lustenau .
For the 2010/11 season, however, the team had to relegate to the Regionalliga West , which caused the team to collapse. Many players switched to other clubs because the 3rd division was too weak for them. Many rumors about Marco Meilinger went around during this time, for example SV Ried or Spanish second division clubs wanted to sign him . Meilinger himself preferred to assert himself at Salzburg and play in the first team and so it happened that at the end of April 2010 he signed a three-year contract with FC Red Bull Salzburg . The first season as a professional did not go according to his wishes, as he only came to the train for the second team in the Regionalliga West. At the beginning of the second season with the Bulls he was only used in the third division. Shortly before the end of the 2011/12 transfer period, SV Ried was able to sign him on loan for a year. On September 17, 2011 in the game against FC Admira Wacker Mödling , he made his Bundesliga debut when he came on for Emanuel Schreiner in the 67th minute . He scored his first Bundesliga goal four rounds later against SV Mattersburg . After two years in Ried, he returned to Salzburg for the 2013/14 season.
After a good start, he played less and less in the first team. So after his contract expired, he decided to play for FK Austria Wien from the 2014/15 season .
For the 2016/17 season he moved to Denmark for Aalborg BK .
On January 12, 2018, Meilinger returned to Austria, where he received a contract with SCR Altach until summer 2020.
National team
From 2008 Marco Meilinger was part of Austria's national youth teams . In 2010 he took part in the U-19 European Championship in France , where he was used in the group matches against France and the Netherlands . The team finished third in the group and qualified for the 2011 U-20 World Cup in Colombia . In Colombia Meilinger came on two missions, but retired with the team as bottom group in the preliminary round.
