Alain Wiss (born August 21, 1990 in Littau ) is a Swiss football player .

Career

Initially still often sitting on the bench, Alain Wiss came more and more into the focus of FCL coach Ciriaco Sforza in the course of 2007 . In the preliminary round of the 2007/08 season, Wiss made his first appearances in the first team of FC Luzern . In the second half of the season, among other things because of the departure of Mario Cantaluppi , Wiss won a regular place in the defensive midfield. On March 17, 2011, Wiss extended his contract, which expired at the end of the 2010/11 season, for another two years.

For the 2015/16 season, Wiss is transferring to league rivals FC St. Gallen on a free transfer . He signed a two-year contract and was given the number 6 on his back. For St. Gallen, he made 80 first division appearances in four and a half seasons, in which he scored three goals. In January 2020 he moved to SCR Altach in Austria .

National team

Wiss completed various international junior matches from U-17 to U-21 for Switzerland. After strong performances in the 2011/12 season, he reached the Cup final with Lucerne, among others, he made his debut in the on May 26, 2012 in a sensational 5-3 win over Germany - the first win against Germany in 56 years A national team .

In summer 2012 he took part in the Olympic football tournament in London with the Swiss Olympic team. For Switzerland this was the first participation in 84 years. He came to two missions.
