List of savings banks in Austria

The Sparkasse Imst AG is a Tyrolean banking company based in Imst and part of the savings bank group in Austria . It was created in 1882 as a club savings bank. The Sparkasse is a member of the cooperation and liability association of the Austrian savings banks and the Austrian savings bank association .

Founding history

The first efforts to found a savings bank association go back more than 100 years - in 1876. In mid-July 1881, the Imst municipal committee decided to set up a municipal savings bank at the request of Mayor Mathias Dialer. But this intention was rejected by the state government. So an action committee for the establishment of an association savings bank was soon formed. At the end of August 1882, a Lieutenancy Presidential Decree approved the statutes and thus the Sparkasse Imst. On September 16, 1882, the Sparkassenverein met for its constituent assembly. The first operational and deposit guarantee fund in the amount of 10,000 guilders was laid down. In October 1882, the Sparkasse began its business activities.

Structural development of the main institute

In its first 20 years, the savings bank was housed in the "Zum Bären" inn on the market square. Due to the increasing volume of business, space was scarce, but new rooms were necessary. However, since there was no suitable house in Imst, the general assembly decided at the beginning of May 1902 to build its own building. At the request of the municipal council, a house was built that could also accommodate the savings bank. The opening took place in mid-August 1904. The officers' apartments, which were also built, were used for their own officials when the garrison withdrew. In 1929 it was rebuilt, mainly to cope with the increased tourism and the associated currency exchange. In the 1950s, the space became too tight again and after negotiations with the municipality, a joint construction with the municipality took place again in 1959, this time in a more favorable location. In 1978 the municipality's share in the building was acquired, and in 1980 the counter hall on the 1st and 2nd floors was rebuilt. In 1990 the building was extended and in 1995 the building was raised.
