The Austrian Savings Bank Association represents the interests of the Austrian savings bank group .

Ordinary members are all savings banks in Austria , Erste Bank , Erste Group , Die Zwei Sparkasse and the regional associations of the savings banks. Extraordinary members are primarily the subsidiaries of the savings banks founded for financial services and the German Savings Banks and Giro Association .

President is currently (as of 4/2018) Gerhard Fabisch (Chairman of the Steiermärkische Sparkasse ), Secretary General is Franz Portisch.

history

The Savings Bank Association was founded in 1905, its headquarters are in Vienna and since 2000 it has been called the "Austrian Savings Bank Association". Between 1905 and 1938 it was called the Reich Association of German Savings Banks in Austria , and between 1946 and 2000 it was called the Main Association of Austrian Savings Banks. Since 1947, according to a delegation agreement, he has also been managing the agendas of the Association of Savings Banks as a sub-organization of the Austrian Chamber of Commerce.

Agendas

The Austrian Savings Banks Association represents the interests of the Austrian savings banks (nationally and in the EU) and the umbrella organization of the Austrian savings bank group. The Savings Banks Association is the strategic platform that serves both political representation and internal reconciliation of interests, as well as providing advice and services for the savings banks.

The European Affairs department, based in Brussels, advocates the interests of Austrian savings banks on a national, European and international level. All concerns are specifically represented to the European Commission and the European Parliament on site and regulatory developments and framework conditions in the financial services sector are anticipated. Amrit Rescheneder has headed the Brussels office since April 1, 2018.

The Austrian Savings Banks Association also performs the functions of the Association of Savings Banks and, as the employers' representative, conducts collective agreement negotiations with the GPA-gjp union as employee representative. In the areas of law and data management, the Savings Banks Association offers services and is available to the savings banks for information and advice etc. a. on service, tax and banking law. In addition, the association is responsible for the press and public relations work of the savings bank group and supports the regional press work of the savings banks.

The Austrian Savings Banks Association is campaigning against cash restrictions.
