Career
societies
Georg Teigl started playing football at SV Gablitz and came to the St. Pölten Football Academy via FC Purkersdorf before he was signed by FC Red Bull Salzburg in June 2009 . At that time, the “Red Bull Juniors” were playing in the second highest Austrian soccer league (ADEG Erste Liga). He made his professional debut on July 14, 2009 in a game against FC Wacker Innsbruck . He was allowed to start in the starting XI and was replaced in the 63rd minute for Marco Meilinger . Due to a league reform, the Juniors had to relegate to the 3rd highest division, the Regional Football League (Regionalliga West), at the end of the Austrian Football Championship 2009/10 , but Teigl remained loyal to the team. In January 2011, FC Wacker Innsbruck was interested in a commitment, but after Dietrich Mateschitz offered him opportunities for the fighting team in the near future, he stayed in Salzburg.
Teigl made his debut in the Austrian Bundesliga on April 16, 2011 in the Bundesliga match against SK Sturm Graz . He came on for Jakob Jantscher at the break and crowned his performance with the decisive pass to make it 3-0 through Alan . In the spring season he made seven more appearances and signed a 3-year contract for the Bundesliga team from FC Red Bull Salzburg until 2014. On July 21, 2011, he made his European Cup debut against the Latvian team Liepajas Metalurgs . He scored his first Bundesliga goal on October 2, 2011 in the away defeat against FK Austria Wien , where he managed to equalize to 2-2 in the 62nd minute. At the end of the 2011/12 season, Teigl won the Austrian championship and cup double with Salzburg . In the 2012/13 season he was repeatedly used as a substitute. He played 33 times and scored five goals. During the summer break of 2013, Salzburg signed two top players in their position: Marco Meilinger and Yordy Reyna . In the first half of the 2013/14 season , Teigl only made six appearances - five of which were short appearances.
In January 2014, Teigl moved to RB Leipzig in the 3rd division and received a contract there until the summer of 2015. Teigl was signed at short notice to replace Christian Müller from Leipzig , who had been seriously injured in the training camp a few days earlier and was canceled for the rest of the season. After Teigl played primarily in midfield in Salzburg, he played more on the defensive in Leipzig. In the remaining 2013/14 season , Teigl made 13 league appearances and made it to the 2nd Bundesliga with the team .
For the 2016/17 season , Teigl moved to Bundesliga club FC Augsburg . In his first season at FC Augsburg, Teigl made 18 Bundesliga appearances and one DFB Cup without scoring himself.
After Teigl had not been considered in the first half of the 2017/18 season , he switched to Eintracht Braunschweig on January 3, 2018 to June 30, 2019 on loan to the 2nd Bundesliga . Due to the descent of the Braunschweiger in the 3rd division , the loan was already ended after the 2017/18 season and Teigl returned to Augsburg.
National team
Georg Teigl has played a total of 17 times for Austrian junior national teams. In the U19 European Championship in 2010 in France , he was twice deployed and was in the final group game against the U19 team of the Netherlands assisted the winning goal for the 1: 0 victory, bringing the Austrian team for the U20 World Cup 2010 in Colombia qualified . At the 2010 World Cup, he made two appearances in the preliminary round. He was substituted on in the games against Panama and the eventual world champions Brazil.
