Jeffrey Gouweleeuw (born July 10, 1991 in Heemskerk ) is a Dutch football player . The central defender is under contract with the German Bundesliga club FC Augsburg .
Career
societies
Gouweleeuw started his career at ADO '20 and joined the youth team at SC Heerenveen in 2006 . There he moved up to the first team for the 2010/11 season . On April 2, 2011 he made his debut in the 3-2 home defeat to Excelsior Rotterdam in the Eredivisie . On October 1, 2011 he scored his first league goal against Vitesse Arnheim to make it 1-1 in the 90th minute.
For the 2013/14 season , Gouweleeuw moved to league rivals AZ Alkmaar . There he played on September 19, 2013 in the 1-0 away win at Maccabi Haifa for the first time in the Europa League . In the 2015/16 season he led the team as captain on the field until he was signed by the German Bundesliga club FC Augsburg in January 2016 . On February 14, 2016, he made his debut in a 3-1 home defeat against FC Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga. On the second match day of the 2016/17 season , Gouweleeuw scored his first Bundesliga goal in a 2-1 away win against Werder Bremen . At the beginning of October 2016 he suffered a lung collapse and was thus absent until December of that year.
National team
Gouweleeuw played a game for the Dutch U17 national team in 2007 . After two appearances for the U19 team , he played for the U21 national team for the first time on February 29, 2012 in a 0-0 draw against Scotland . He was used a total of three times for the U21s.
