Reece Joel Oxford (born December 16, 1998 in Enfield , London ) is an English football player . The defender is under contract with FC Augsburg .

Career

In the club

Oxford moved from Tottenham Hotspur to West Ham United's youth in 2011 . For their first team he made his debut on August 9, 2015 at the age of 16 years and 198 days in a 2-0 away win against Arsenal in the Premier League . In December 2016, he extended his contract term to June 30, 2021.

At the end of January 2017, he was loaned to the second division FC Reading until the end of the season. There he was rarely used because of an ankle injury.

For the 2017/18 season , Oxford did not return to West Ham United, but was awarded to Borussia Mönchengladbach in the Bundesliga . There he was used in three Bundesliga and one DFB-Pokal games. In December, Borussia Mönchengladbach signaled an interest in signing Oxford for the winter transfer period. On December 29, West Ham United ended the loan deal by means of a clause, so that Oxford returned to London on January 1, 2018. On January 16, 2018, he made his first appearance after his return in the 1-0 win over Shrewsbury Town in the third round of the FA Cup .

After another FA Cup and Premier League appearance, Oxford returned to Borussia Mönchengladbach on January 31, 2018 on loan until the end of the season. After another four Bundesliga appearances, he left the club again and returned to West Ham United for the 2018/19 season and was only used in the U21s.

On January 31, 2019, Oxford returned to the Bundesliga and joined FC Augsburg on loan until the end of the season . He played eight times in the league and once in the cup. After returning to England, the defender completed part of the pre-season with the Hammers before FC Augsburg finally signed him again in early August 2019 and signed a four-year contract.

In the national team

Oxford has been part of the FA's junior teams since October 2013 .
