Philipp Max (born September 30, 1993 in Viersen ) is a German football player . His preferred position is left back. His father is the former Bundesliga top scorer Martin Max .
Career

Beginnings
Philipp Max was born in Viersen when his father was under contract with Borussia Mönchengladbach . His mother was also a soccer player and played in the Westphalia team. After four seasons for FC Schalke 04 - from 1995 to 1999 - his father moved to TSV 1860 Munich in 1999 . Philipp Max finally started playing soccer in Vaterstetten , a few kilometers east of Munich , at SC Baldham in 2000 and moved to the youth department of TSV 1860 Munich. In 2007 he moved to the youth training center of FC Bayern Munich . Max and his mother also lived during Martin Max's one-year guest performance at Hansa Rostock in the greater Munich area.
FC Schalke 04
In 2010 he moved with his family to Haltern am See and switched to the miners' smithy of FC Schalke 04 . With FC Schalke 04 he won the German A-Junior Championship in 2012 .
In summer 2012 Max moved up to the second team of FC Schalke 04, with whom he played in the Regionalliga West and developed into a regular player. On March 25, 2014 (17th matchday), he made his first appearance in the Bundesliga ; at 0-0 in the Revierderby at Borussia Dortmund he was substituted in for Julian Draxler in stoppage time. He had a second short assignment on March 28, 2014 (28th matchday) in a 2-0 home win against Hertha BSC , when he was substituted on for Draxler again in stoppage time.
Karlsruher SC
For the 2014/15 season he moved to the second division club Karlsruher SC . He made his first appearance in the 2nd Bundesliga on September 27, 2014 (8th matchday) in the 0-1 defeat in the home game against FC Ingolstadt 04 . Before that, he was only used once for the second team. National team
On July 15, 2016, he was appointed to the DFB squad for the 2016 Olympic soccer tournament in Rio de Janeiro . After making his first appearance in the last group game in the 10-0 win against Fiji with his substitution for Jeremy Toljan at halftime, he scored his only goal in the quarter-finals against Portugal to make it 4-0. As an inferior finalist against the selection of Brazil , he won the silver medal with the team .
On November 1, 2016, he was awarded the Silver Laurel Leaf together with the Olympic soccer team .
