International Society of Chemotherapy

The International Society of Antimicrobial Chemotherapy , abbreviated ISAC (until 2017: International Society of Chemotherapy - Infection and Cancer , abbreviated ISC ), is a scientific organization that deals with all issues relating to the treatment of infections and cancer . It is based in the UK . The company was founded in 1961 on the occasion of the second International Symposium of Chemotherapy in Naples. The ISC is made up of 85 national and regional scientific societies with a total of over 50,000 individual members.

The society has 17 working groups, which mainly deal with microbiological and infectiological issues.

Awards

The ISC presents the Hamao Umezawa Memorial Award , which was founded in 1979 and named in 1986 after the Japanese microbiologist Hamao Umezawa , as an award for outstanding contributions in the field of chemotherapy. The award includes prize money of 10,000 Swiss francs.
