Steponas Rusteika

Steponas Rusteika (born July 5, 1887 in Riga , † June 24, 1941 in Minsk ) was a Lithuanian lawyer and politician, colonel .

Life

Steponas Rusteika attended the Alexander-Gymnasium in his hometown Riga, passed the school- leaving examination there in 1908 and then began studying law at the University of Dorpat , which he graduated in 1914. He took part in the First World War and graduated from the Kazan Military School . From 1918 he lived in Lithuania. From 1919 he was a volunteer in the Lithuanian Army and was a member of Lietuvių tautininkų sąjunga and Jaunosios Lietuvos sąjunga .

From 1930 to 1931 he was department director of the Lithuanian criminal police in Kaunas . From 1931 he was Minister of the Interior of Lithuania in the government of Juozas Tūbelis . From 1935 to 1940 he was deputy mayor of Kaunas.

In 1940 Steponas Rusteika was arrested by the NKVD, sentenced to death and executed in 1941 .
