Iago , with full name Iago Amaral Borduchi (born March 23, 1997 in Monte Azul Paulista , São Paulo ), is a Brazilian football player who plays in the position of left-back for FC Augsburg .

Career

Iago began his career as a youth player with the local club Atlético Monte Azul . He originally played as a striker and later moved to the left-back position. At the age of 16, he joined the youth department of Internacional Porto Alegre in 2013 .

Before the 2017 season , Iago was promoted to the first team. On February 8, he extended his contract to 2020. He made his league debut on May 13, 2017 in a 3-0 away win at Londrina EC . In the following season, 2018 , he experienced his breakthrough in professional football and completed 35 games in the Campeonato Brasileiro 2018 for Internacional.

On May 23, 2018, he extended his contract until 2021. With Internacional , Iago made his debut at international club level in 2019. In the first game of the group stage of the Copa Libertadores 2019 , his club faced CD Palestino from Chile on March 6, 2019 . Iago was in the starting line-up in the game.

For the 2019/20 season he moved to the Bundesliga for FC Augsburg , where he received a contract valid until June 30, 2024. He made his debut on September 28, 2019 in a 3-0 defeat at home against Bayer 04 Leverkusen ; He scored his first Bundesliga goal on December 13, 2019 (15th matchday) in a 4-2 win in the away game against TSG 1899 Hoffenheim with the goal of the final score in the 85th minute.

Iago was appointed to the Brazilian U20 team for the 2016 Suwon JS Cup . On June 2, 2019, he made his debut for the U23 selection in a game against Guatemala.
