Alan , with full name Alan Douglas Borges de Carvalho (born July 10, 1989 in Barbosa , State of São Paulo ), is a Brazilian- born Chinese football player . The striker has been under contract with the Chinese club Guangzhou Evergrande since 2015 .
Club career
Alan started his career at Guarani FC in Campinas . At the age of 16 he moved to Londrina EC , for whom Giovane Élber had also played. In 2008, Fluminense Rio de Janeiro noticed him and signed him. In Rio de Janeiro he drew attention to himself with goals. In summer 2010 he went to Europe and signed with FC Red Bull Salzburg .
Under coach Huub Stevens he came only to a few missions; that changed when Ricardo Moniz became the new coach. In the Bundesliga game against SK Sturm Graz in the UPC-Arena, he scored all three goals for a 3-0 victory. He scored nine goals in the last six games of the 2010/11 season.
In the championship game against SK Rapid Wien on August 28, 2011, he suffered a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee in the 92nd minute. Eleven months later, on July 31, 2012, he got back into team training. However, further therapies followed in Germany and the USA , as the injury was still not completely healed. At the beginning of 2013 he returned to full team training and scored three goals in the first three test matches. In the 2013/14 season he scored 26 goals in the league and five in the European Cup and was the Red Bulls' most successful goalscorer after Jonatan Soriano . With six goals in the ÖFB Cup , he was also the top scorer in this competition.
On January 16, 2015, Red Bull Salzburg announced Alan's move to the Chinese soccer club Guangzhou Evergrande , which signed for four years. However, his move was initially followed by bad luck, after his first appearance on February 14, 2015 in the Chinese FA Super Cup , in which he converted a penalty on penalties , but could not prevent the 3-5 defeat against Shandong Luneng Taishan , suffered he tore a cruciate ligament that put him out of action for the time being. He was missing until August 2015. In his first season at Guangzhou Evergrande he won in October 2015, the Chinese Championship and with a 1: 0 in the second leg against al-Ahli Dubai the Asian Champions League 2015 . In February 2016 he won the Chinese Supercup . In the AFC Champions League 2016 he was eliminated in the preliminary round. He defended the Chinese championship with his club in 2016 and contributed a large part to winning the championship with 14 goals from 27 games. He also won the Chinese Cup in 2016 .
National team
Alan was most recently in the squad of the Brazilian U-20 national team .
In November 2013, Austrian media discussed whether Alan could play for the Austrian national team in the future. In May 2014 the ÖFB announced that it was working on an application to be granted Austrian citizenship .
After having only been in Austria for around four and a half years before moving to China in January 2015, there was no need to discuss a future career in the Austrian national team.
In 2019, Alan became a Chinese citizen . However, Alan is currently not eligible to play for the Chinese national soccer team . It is currently (as of August 2020) unclear whether FIFA will grant him permission.
