Club career

Jeuring began his career as a teenager in 1960 at the predecessor club of FC Twente, the Enschede sports club . With the amateurs of the SCE he played in the first team at the age of 17. When Kees Rijvers took over as coach from Friedrich Donenfeld after the first season of the newly created honorary division Twente , he heralded a generation change. With Jeuring, Theo Pahlplatz , Epi Drost and Kalle Oranen , Rijvers brought talented players from the area into the first team. Jeuring was Enscheder's top scorer with ten goals in this season, when FC Twente finished thirteenth, two places lower than in the previous season. He earned 1,500 guilders (around 1,350 D-Marks ) as a new professional, and he also received a moped.

The development around the young guard, which was joined by Dick van Dijk and Eddy Achterberg the following year , continued. In the following season the Tukkers took eighth place, in 1969 they even came third. During these seasons Jeuring had to make do with the second man behind van Dijk, who became the top scorer in Enschede with 22 and 30 goals respectively. In the 1969/70 trade fair cup , Jeuring was able to gain first international experience, albeit without scoring, but Twente was eliminated after the two first round matches against FC Rouen . After van Dijk moved to Ajax Amsterdam, Jeuring was now able to prove himself as a center forward and was part of Kees Rijvers' regular team. His playful qualities: tremendously safe on the ball, always playable, despite his height of only 1.80 meters, he is strong on the ball, tireless and with the right nose for a goal. In the Eredivisie he scored 14 goals in 1969/70 and 17 goals in the following season. Attention labor required this season and his goal in the Fairs Cup : against Eskişehirspor 1 in the second leg of the second round three goals in the third round made his winner against: he scored the 6 Dinamo Zagreb that the FC Twente in the quarter-final against Juventus was allowed to begin and only retired after extension.

Jeuring scored four goals in one game twice: in the Eredivisie in 1970 against NAC Breda , in the 1972/73 UEFA Cup against Frem Copenhagen in a 5-0 first leg of the second round (in the second leg he scored twice 4-0 ). In 1974 FC Twente finished second in the Eredivisie for the first time, a success that the club was only able to repeat in 2008 under coach Fred Rutten . In the 1974/75 season, the Enschedern achieved their greatest international success to date: with a victory over Juventus Turin - Jeuring contributed a goal to the 3-1 victory in the semi-final first leg - the team reached the finals of the UEFA Cup , but left after a 0: 0 in Düsseldorf against Borussia Mönchengladbach in the second leg at home with 1: 5 under. In the following Eredivisie season he achieved the personal best of 20 league goals, with which he was the best FC Twente goalscorer of the season for the fourth time. Jeuring played for FC Twente until the end of the 1976/77 season and completed his professional career with the only title: on May 19, 1977, the club won the KNVB Cup for the first time with a 3-0 after extra time against PEC Zwolle ; After Epi Drost and Arnold Mühren , Jeuring also entered the list of goalscorers for the final. It was his last goal in the last game for FC Twente and as a professional; Jeuring made a total of 327 games in the Eredivisie for the club from Enschede, in which he scored 103 goals. There are also 32 trade fair and UEFA cup appearances with 19 goals and 16 goals in the KNVB cup competition. The most beautiful is his own opinion, one of 19 October 1975. After a long throw-in by Harry Bruggink , which was extended by a teammate with the head, he scored the 2: 0 win over Feyenoord his second goal by a bicycle kick . Jeuring returned to his hometown club SC Enschede, where he still played as an amateur. During this time he led the sports club from the second to the first Hoofdklasse , the highest amateur league. In his total of five seasons he scored 66 goals for the “first” of the sports club. After the end of his active career, he became a youth coach at the sports club and FC Twente. He has been the owner of a snack bar in Enschede-Süd since 1973, which, according to his own statements , was one of the twenty best in the Netherlands (out of 75 tested) in a test by Consumentengids des Consumentenbond , the Dutch consumer center, in February 2009.

Jeuring was FC Twente's record scorer in the Eredivisie for more than 32 years. His record of 103 goals was only exceeded on August 23, 2009 when Blaise Nkufo scored his 104th league goal for the Enscheder in the match against RKC Waalwijk . After the game, Jeuring himself presented the Swiss national player with the match ball with which he had set his new record.

National team

Jeuring made his debut in the Nederlands Elftal on October 10, 1971 in the European Championship qualifier against the East German selection ; in the 3-2 victory of his team in De Kuip , he was substituted on in the 71st minute of the game for Dick van Dijk. Like his Enscheder teammates Drost, Pahlplatz and Piet Schrijvers , Jeuring was part of the extended squad of bond coach František Fadrhonc , but he had to wait a year and a half for his second appearance. It was not until March 28, 1973 that he made his only international match over 90 minutes. In the 1-0 defeat at Vienna's Prater Stadium , another team-mate from FC Twente, the young René van de Kerkhof , who moved to PSV a little later, made his debut alongside him . In the following games, Jeuring sat on the Elftal's bench several times without the coach sending him back onto the field. His hopes of being appointed to the squad for the World Cup in Germany were dashed by two groin injuries within half a year in the 1973/74 season.
