Dimitrios Saravakos ( Greek Δημήτριος Σαραβάκος , born July 29, 1961 in Athens , Greece ) is a former Greek football player .

Dimitrios Saravakos began his career with the Greek first division club Panionios Athens, where his father Athanasios Saravakos was already under contract in the 1950s and 1960s. At Panionios, Dimitrios Saravakos made a total of 142 appearances and scored 35 goals. In 1979 he won the Greek Club Cup and finally moved to Panathinaikos Athens in the summer of 1984 . For Panathinaikos Saravakos played for a decade (1984-1994) and developed into one of the most popular players in the club's history. In addition to three championships (1986, 1990, 1991), Saravakos also won the Greek Cup six times (1986, 1988, 1989, 1991, 1993, 1994). During this period Saravakos rose to become one of the most famous players in Greek football history and also attracted attention on the European stage. So it came about that the top Italian club Juventus Turin made an offer to commit the player to Panathinaikos in the early 1990s. The then club president Athens G. Vardinogiannis refused and so Saravakos was denied a career abroad. In 1994 Saravakos moved to AEK Athens after 239 games and 124 goals for Panathinaikos , where he repeatedly won the cup in 1996 and 1997. In 1997 the player returned to Panathinaikos and ended his career there. In his entire career, Saravakos came to 442 games in the Greek top division and scored 184 goals.

Dimitrios Saravakos was an integral part of the Greek national soccer team for years . He made his international debut on December 1, 1982 in a game against Switzerland . On October 10, 1991, Saravakos managed the feat of scoring five goals in an encounter against Egypt that ended 6-1. In the national team Saravakos came to 78 appearances and 22 goals. The highlight of his national team career was participation in the 1994 World Cup in the United States .

Dimitris Saravakos played in the forward position and is considered one of the best Greek football players of all time.

Today Saravakos is a restaurateur and plays for the Greek national beach soccer team .
