At the beginning of 1966, various top division clubs such as FC Twente Enschede , RSC Anderlecht , Sparta Rotterdam and AFC DWS became aware of the striker. Ultimately, FC Twente secured the attacker's services and lured him to Enschede for an initial five years. Before that, Pahlplatz was still in the final of the amateur championship, but had to admit defeat with his club. In the first year he prevailed as a center forward and completed 34 games for his new club. With Twente, Pahlplatz always placed in the top five of the Eredivisie between 1968 and 1976 . For the 1972/73 season they reached the semi-finals of the UEFA Cup , two years later even the final. Both times it was the end of the line against Borussia Mönchengladbach . In 1975 and 1977 they reached the final of the national KNVB Cup . In 1977 you could win the title and thus qualified for the European Cup Winners' Cup 1977/78 . You got to the semi-finals. Pahlplatz played for Twente for the last time in 1978/79. In the summer of 1979 he moved to FC Epe in Germany, where he was still active as a player-coach for some time.

National team

1964 Pahlplatz made his debut in the Dutch amateur soccer team. On November 29, 1967, he finally played for the first time for the senior national team when bond coach Georg Keßler nominated him for the game against the Soviet Union. This made Pahlplatz the first national player from Enschede since the Second World War . On November 1, 1972, he wore the Oranje jersey for the last time. In thirteen games, Pahlplatz scored three goals. He achieved this on March 26, 1969 in qualifying for the 1970 World Cup and on November 17, 1971 in qualifying for Euro 1972, both against Luxembourg . Because of Piet Keizer , who was on the left wing at the time, Pahlplatz mostly had to move to the right wing during his time for the national team, or found himself on the bench.
