Peter Johannes "Piet" Keizer (born June 14, 1943 in Amsterdam ; † February 9, 2017 there ) was a Dutch football player . The striker played 34 international matches for the Dutch national football team between 1962 and 1974 , scoring eleven goals.
Career
society
Keizer was considered one of the best players in his country in the 1960s and 1970s. In 1961, at the age of 17, he was in the squad of the honorary division Ajax Amsterdam for the first time . The left winger found his congenial teammate both at Ajax and in the national team in Johan Cruyff . With the move from Cruijff to FC Barcelona , the dream duo broke up. Without his partner in the storm, Keizer lost his resounding strength. For France Football , the offensive power of Keizer, Cruijff and Sjaak Swart between 1964 and 1973 made them one of the six most formative attack trios globally since the Second World War , among which the trade journal describes this Ajax series as "the most revolutionary".
Together with Ajax Amsterdam, Keizer was six times Dutch champion and five times Dutch cup winner. Between 1971 and 1973 he won the European Champion Clubs' Cup with the club three times in a row and was world cup winner in 1972 .
Keizer played a total of 365 games for Ajax Amsterdam. In the list of most missions for the club, he is in fourth place.
National team
One year after making his professional debut for Ajax, Keizer made his debut for the Netherlands national team .
For the 1974 World Cup , he was only a substitute player and was the only substitute for Rob Rensenbrink in the group game against Sweden . This was his 34th and last international match.
